"Verity" by Colleen Hoover is a gripping and emotional rollercoaster of a read. From the very first page, the reader is drawn into the story of Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling author who is offered the opportunity to write the biography of Verity Crawford, a famous author who has been left severely injured and unable to communicate after a car accident. As Lowen delves deeper into Verity's past, she discovers that there are secrets and lies buried within the pages of Verity's novels, and soon finds herself caught in a web of deceit that threatens her own life.
Hoover's writing is raw and honest, and the character development is superb. Lowen is a relatable and likable protagonist, and the supporting characters, including Verity and her family, are equally well-crafted. I found this book unputdownable and instantly fell in love with the way Hoover told the story from the perspective of Verity through her writeups and Lowen who is tossed into Verity's world.
The plot is well-paced, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing until the very end. The themes of love, loyalty, and trust are explored in a way that is both thought-provoking and emotional and worthy of a 4.5 star rating.
Overall, Verity is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers and emotional romance. Hoover has once again delivered a powerful and unforgettable novel that will leave readers gasping for more.
